Ingredients to make Apple Crunch Bars recipe :
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups peeled chopped granny smith apples
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 2 egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup margarine, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 8 ounces plain low-fat yogurt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Combine the flour, margarine and brown sugar in a bowl, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer.
- Reserve 2 cups of the flour mixture, and set aside.
- Add the baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt to remaining flour mixture; beat well.
- Add the egg whites, yogurt and vanilla extract; beat well.
- Stir in the apples.
- Press the reserved 2 cups flour mixture to the bottom of a 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking pan coated with cooking spray.
- Sprinkle walnuts over the flour mixture.
- Spread the apple mixture over the prepared crust.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for about 40 minutes
